How to use #hashtags.
In recent years we have witnessed the depopulation of a special character on social networks, namely thehashtag # (better known as hash). The term derives from the English hash (hash) and tag (label), in practice “word labeled with the hash symbol”. This symbol, which first appeared on Internet Relay Chat for the purpose of labeling groups and topics, owes its popularity to the birth of Twitter, the social network that used them to mark keywords and attract users' attention to particular issues. Up Facebookhowever, these tags can only be used since 2013.
How do you use hashtags on Facebook? It depends on your needs! You can use them to tag your posts and increase your popularity, or to search for others' posts on a certain theme or follow an event. The tags, in fact, are transformed into links and by clicking on them you can view a list of other people's posts that contain that tag, but only if they are your friends or have set a public privacy level.
How to use hashtags
- they can be used to track down a community: in the case of Digife for example our hashtag would be #digife or #sitiweb.
-The hashtag can be used to participate in an event: #evento.
- they can also be used to attract the attention of people interested in a specific topic such as #ecommerce.
The use of the # is simple, but you need to have some precautions if you aim for their effective use! First of all, it is important to be as specific and consistent with the topic as possible. Generally posts on Facebook are accompanied by a phrase, so, to be as relevant as possible, you could insert the hashtag within the phrase, for example: the growth in Italy of #ecommerce. Another thing to remember is that hashtags must be written without spaces, so if you want to create a hashtag made up of several words you don't have to use #mare blu, but, #mareblu because, otherwise, the hashtag will only be created for "sea", while “Blue” will be considered part of the message.
How not to use hashtags
-do not use hashtags for each word: it makes no sense to use these tags for articles or prepositions, it is better to use nouns that are keywords, precisely because hashtags are catalogers.
- do not use a single hashtag for an entire message because it will be incomprehensible. Don't overdo it in the opposite direction because writing too many hashtags is counterproductive. The recommended number is between one and three!
- do not use hashtags invented on the spot or that don't make any sense because they are rarely indexed by social services. If you want to ensure the success of your post, you would do well to use already established tags that are strictly relevant.
Often, in fact, there is an improper use of hashtags that have nothing to do with the post in which they are used and this can be annoying for those looking for topics related to the hashtag you are making improper use of.
-Remember that punctuation in general, except for underscore (_), should not be used because it interrupts the hashtag.
If you want your posts to be successful, find out which hashtags, recently, have aroused the most interest and caused the most discussion, but, keep in mind the advice given above!
